Why This Initiative Exists

Many families in Bihar still delay mental health treatment because of stigma, misinformation, fear, or belief in superstition. Conditions like depression, anxiety, addiction, OCD, sleep disorders, anger problems, and student stress are often misunderstood.

This awareness initiative explains these issues in simple language and encourages families to seek professional help at the right time. मानसिक स्वास्थ्य कमजोरी नहीं है. समय पर सहायता लेना समझदारी है.

Awareness reduces fear. Compassion helps families talk. Professional care gives people a better chance to recover safely.

Myths vs Facts

Mental health myths can stop people from asking for help. These examples are for awareness, not diagnosis.

Fact:

Mental health conditions are medical and psychological conditions that can improve with proper care.

Myth: Addiction is only a bad habit.

Fact:

Addiction can become a serious health condition and may need structured treatment and family support.

Myth: Depression goes away if a person stays busy.

Fact:

Depression can require professional evaluation, counselling, medicines, lifestyle changes, and support.

Myth: झाड़-फूँक is enough for mental illness.

Fact:

Cultural beliefs may give emotional comfort, but medical symptoms should be evaluated by a qualified mental health professional.

  • Thoughts of self-harm or suicide
  • Alcohol, tobacco, drug, or medicine dependence
  • Sudden aggression or severe mood changes
  • Not sleeping for many nights
